Work is really the key to not only online ventures but to anything you might try in life and even just dream of in life. Work, dedication, commitment, and yes even failure are keys to eventual success.

OK one thing that all marketing gurus agree on is the fact that online it is all about links. It has always been about links and it will always be about links. This is the whole idea behind the web right to get us all linked to each other.

You have to think of links like you are running for President of the United States. Every link is a vote for your site and certain votes from important key sites (states) bring you electoral votes (page rank) and the more electoral votes you get, the quicker you become king or queen of the Net. OK so you’re not President of the United States of America but who cares at this point because you’re rich right.

At least that’s the way Google sees it and that’s all that should matter to all of us online entrepreneurs? If Google sees it that way then that is what is important to the online entrepreneur because as you should know by now…We all live and die by Google online.

Google uses my analogy of above to judge the importance of your website. It considers a link to a site as a vote and established a whole page rank system that is based on this. BTW every online person should have the Google toolbar installed and have the Page Rank feature of it installed.

Although no one knows for sure how Google works, it is widely suggested by all that are involved that Google has a point numbering system for links which we think goes something like this.

A link from a PR0 page is just counted as a link. There more the site that is linking to your site has a higher page rank the more exponentially it counts in votes. What does it do? Well the higher your page rank becomes the more often Google will visit your site because it is considered as an important site. With this importance comes a better chance of ranking higher for the key search terms within your niche.

Sites that have a PR9 are visited by Google every few minutes. So people that tell you that page rank is not important should be simply ignored.

Now, do not go out and start liking to just about anything. Links must be relative to your niche. Google hates people that try to fool them. They are in business to give their clients (you and me) the most relevant search results for our searches. If I do a search for “fishing supplies” and I get results for naked volleyball players well that’s not too relevant and I would quickly lose confidence in Google.

Do not use shortcuts to success because in the long run, the road will become eternal.
