I’m a bit hot under the collar. I received an email from a customer who bought a brand new site saying: “I have been online for 10 days now and I have not received a cent. What is going on here?”

Man o Man; if it were that easy to make money online don’t you think we would all be doing it. This isn’t some big pyramid scheme. OK, I’ve bought a site; I got you to install it, now I can retire right? Sorry folks, Santa isn’t for real, neither is the tooth fairy. I swear some people probably call their dentist cursing them because no more teeth are coming out after the second set and they can’t make any more money.

My answer to this customer was: How many articles have you written and submitted? How many entries have you done in blogs related to your niche and in how many have you added your URL? How many times have you visited places like Yahoo answers and answered questions in your niche (all the time while leaving your URL)? More importantly which keywords are you targeting and how many times did you put these keywords in your articles? How much are your products selling for on eBay and Amazon? What kind of ads are others putting on to get clicks?

Do you know what the customers answer was to all these questions? I don’t know either, because I will never get a response. You see it is much easier to blame others than to actually work and try, fail, then try again.

I am astonished, simply astonished, that people do not do market research of main keywords in their niche before they get started. Or better yet pay someone to do it for you. People, you have to spend a little to make a lot. You have to spend time and yes a bit of money.

An analysis of your main Keyword, (and by the way Guru’s don’t offer these types of service because you might become successful and would therefore not need to buy their services, right?) gives you the key information about your niche. This will help in your decision making and could even lead you to decide: Hey, there’s no money to be made here or WOW, man look at the money that is being made here.

How can one go into business and not know what he/she is up against. You need to know your market. Folks, this is a very competitive game and if you do not arm yourself with the right information it won’t be long before it will be game over, please insert another coin to play again. Of course there is always the option that the bozo I mentioned above did and that is to send an email to the person that sold you a product and blame him/her.
