You have probably heard the old saying “two heads are better than one”. Well if two are better than one what about 100 or 1000 or more heads.
As much as sometimes it may hurt or make you angry, never be afraid to ask for feedback. This is the main reason why David S. and I chose a blog type theme for our Marketing website. We want to see you comment to our posts good or bad. We want to hear your suggestions and ideas going forward. More importantly we want to hear your requests for what you would like us to take about next or if you wish for us to elaborate on a subject that we have already touched on.
If you are going to accept feedback, it is important that you train your mind to accept this feedback. Like anything else in business, feedback needs to be learned. We need to learn to be strong, positive and also who to chose.
Let me elaborate on what I am saying above. If you are going to start a blog or have a leave a comment section on your website, you are going to have to learn and realize that not everybody will agree with you, not everybody will like you and that not everybody is honest in this world. As much as the majority of people are good honest folks who are online to work or play there are those that are there to simply be destructive. It’s that minority voice that could lead you to getting frustrated depressed or ultimately makes you quit your online dream.
Take David S and I for instance, when the financial markets collapse and the car industry followed etc, etc…, we decided that you would try to help as many people as we could make money online. So we branched out one of our site building businesses. What we did is created a turnkey system of affiliate sites, all with original content and fully SEO’d. Their value was easily 2K per website. But we sold them for .99 and it included full installs…..we even offered cost hosting for a year. We sold hundreds a sites an hour….however we had 10 almost consecutive negative feedback’s on eBay and basically the whole project had to be scrapped because our auctions would not be seen given that our feedback was so low. So although we did not quit our online business, this project that was done to help American families during a great time of need, was scrapped because of a few destructive people who were probably all website sellers on EBay themselves.
I will admit that I did take this personally, but had this been my main source of Income I would not have permitted myself to do so. Although it is very difficult to do, you must take the ignorant only comments and push them to the side, you must always listen to the comments that are negative yet productive and appreciate with humility the comments that are flattering.
One good starting point for not taking negative feedback too seriously is to realize that if you are getting feedback that means that you are getting traffic and that your content is valuable enough to be read and commented on.
